Integro Private Wealth
Q. What led you to a career in financial advice/ wealth management?
I was initially drawn to wealth management after learning about trading in the foreign exchange market, and then slowly learned more about micro, small and large cap stocks. I soon realised that this was the industry for me, so I pursued a degree in finance. Undertaking internships gave me the opportunity to use various analytics to strategically develop and monitor portfolios for clients which is something that I really enjoy. Developing relationships with clients is something I enjoy and really value, so wealth management felt a natural fit for me.
Q. What drew you to Integro Private Wealth?
When I first met the team, I quickly understood the detail and time they put in to ensure that their advice and research was done to the highest degree. The team placed a strong emphasis on active investment management and processes which was something that I am passionate about. Integro has positioned itself well within the private wealth sector and has established a joint venture with a leading accounting firm, creating a myriad of development opportunities for graduates like me. Integro’s high standards for the work that they do, as well as a structured graduate program made it a very attractive point from which to launch my career.
Q. What do you love most about working at Integro?
Since day one, I have felt like a vital part of the team. From working alongside different advisers to helping develop strategies for clients – the opportunities that have come from working across different parts of the business have made me a better adviser. I have loved working alongside clients to help them structure their portfolios and better position themselves within the market. I find it fulfilling knowing that our clients’ financial wellbeing is well looked after. Integro takes its culture seriously and working with friendly and supportive colleagues makes work all the more enjoyable.
Q. Where do you see yourself in five, ten, twenty years?
In 5 years, I see myself providing private wealth/investment advisory services to clients. In 10 to 20 years, I would like to think of myself still in the industry but with the hope that my work is more so geared towards investment management-based roles. This goal has underpinned my journey since I set out my career in finance and it continues to motivate me. I would love the ability to focus solely on the markets and use that knowledge to help people inform their financial decisions.
Q. What is one piece of advice you would give to a graduate looking to pursue a career in wealth management?
Try and establish yourself with a good wealth management internship and gather as much work experience and knowledge in the industry as you can before your graduate. Don’t underestimate the opportunity that is born out of networking, nor the value of constantly learning and refining your skills. As much as its important to have academia under your belt, what I’ve found most valuable was having prior experience working in a specific field as it helped me hit the ground running. I found myself much more confident with the day-to-day processes of wealth management. I also found that undertaking an internship alongside my studies helped me develop a stronger understanding of the market and taught me how the principles taught at university translate in the real world.
Q. What’s been your favourite moment at Integro so far?
It’s difficult to pick just one but one of my favourite things is attending team building/office events. They are a great opportunity to give the staff a chance to take the time to talk to each other and develop better relationships both within and outside of the office. One of the best examples of this was when the entire team had an offsite day facilitated by an external leadership consultant and we studied our individual behavioural profiles. It was a great day because it encouraged us to engage with one another beyond work. I’ve found building relationships with people outside the office really helps facilitate a better culture within the office and in turn, makes coming to work even more enjoyable!
